In Germany there are numerous funding programs that specifically support the introduction of software. Although the Digital Now program runs until the end of 2023, there are still funding opportunities at the state level. The funding landscape is diverse, and the eligibility of expenses depends on the specific programs.
To give you an overview, we have listed some programs here that specifically promote the purchase of software as part of digitalization*:
Baden-Württemberg
- Name of the program: Digitization Bonus Plus
- Short description: The Ministry of Economic Affairs has launched the “Digitalization Bonus Plus” funding program in cooperation with L-Bank, with a total of 121 million euros available. The Digitization Bonus Plus supports digitization projects and measures to improve IT security in small and medium-sized companies (SMEs).
- Subsidized companies: Up to 500 employees
- Type of funding: grant
- Amount of funding: 50% for eligible expenses of €10,000-50,000, 12% for €50,000-120,000

Bavaria
- Name of the program: Digital Bonus
- Short description: With the Digitalbonus funding program, the Free State of Bavaria wants to support small companies in preparing for the challenges of the digital world. The digital bonus enables companies to digitize products, processes and services and improve IT security using ICT hardware and software.
- Subsidized companies: SMEs in Bavaria
- Type of funding: grant
- Amount of funding: With the Digitalbonus Standard you receive a grant of up to 10,000 euros. The funding rate is up to 50 percent of eligible expenses.

Berlin
Hamburg
- Name of the program: Hamburg Digital
- Short description: Supports SMEs in Hamburg in switching to new digital systems and business models with consulting and investment services.
- Subsidized companies: SMEs in Hamburg
- Type of funding: grant
- Amount of funding: Up to €17,000 for investments, up to €5,000 for consulting services

Hesse
- Name of the program: DIGI grant – grant for digitization measures
- Short description: The state of Hesse supports companies in the digital transformation of their production and work processes and the improvement of IT security.
- Subsidized companies: SMEs in the commercial sector and freelance professions with a permanent establishment in Hesse
- Type of funding: grant
- Amount of funding: Up to 50 percent of material expenses. Funding amounts from EUR 4,000 up to EUR 10,000

Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania
- Name of the program: Promoting Digital Transformation (DigiTrans)
- Short description: Startups and existing companies that have solutions for switching from analog to digital processes can be supported. A continuation of the program is being examined.

- Type of funding: grant
- Amount of funding: Max. 50% of the total investment for investments of 8,000 to 20,000 euros

North Rhine-Westphalia
- Name of the program: Mittelstand Innovativ & Digital
- Short description: The program strengthens SMEs in digitizing their business processes and digitally developing their products, services and production processes.

- Type of funding: grant
- Amount of funding: Depending on the sub-program, between 15,000 and 22,500 euros

Saxony
- Name of the program: ERDF – Grant for the introduction and transformation of digitalization topics in the company
- Short description: Support for pre-accession projects and transformation projects in the context of digitalization

- Type of funding: grant
- Amount of funding: Up to 60% of expenses of 5,000 to 10,000 euros

- Name of the program: Digitalbonus Thuringia
- Short description: The Digital Bonus Thuringia is intended to support small and medium-sized companies in digitalization projects.

- Amount of funding: Up to 50% of the costs of the total investment, maximum 15,000 euros
